Possession: One Blessed Breath at a Time
a bumper sticker
one day at a time
before collision
after collision
bumper sticker fragment
a time
one day is too long for me
for those unnamed feelings
impulses to harm
arise many times
I need one time at a time
one present moment at a present moment
every breath is a blessing
every breath is an opportunity for me to
bless others or curse the blessed breath
I will have present moments of imperfection
actually
perfection does not exist
but I would rather live more moments
breathe more blessed breaths
like a sunning seal pup
and not a pup slayer
when anger arises during blessed breaths
I need to consider
is this anger that will focus my adrenaline
to protect the sunning seal pup from harm
or is this anger based in selfishness
and if my anger is selfish
hopefully my next expelling of blessed breath
expels the anger
the anxiety
let’s them pass
let go of the darkness of selfishness
inhale a blessed breath
emulating a meditative seal pup
sunning in Massachusetts
so a time at a time
